Correct. They need to use the noparse tag.

So the poster would need to add the noparse to their post, correct? No way to just globally have noparsing be the default inside the [img] tag?

    For example:

    [ img]http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/images/statusicon/[ noparse]user_online.gif[ /noparse][ /img]

    (remove the spaces)

Where does the [parse][/noparse] code go? is that something the poster has to do each time they use the [img]? Or is that something I can setup in the admincp?

Just to clarify the problem. Basically if a file inside the [img] has a combination of letters/symbols that are the same as a smilie then the system thinks it's a smile.

    1) You can disable smilies by surrounding the smilie code with the noparse tag:

    [noparse][/noparse]

    2) I think there is an addon for this on www.vbulletin.org. But be careful because addons like this can slow down your forum depending on exactly how they are resizing the remote image.

Question about smilies and image size

    1. Is there a way to disable smilies within BB codes (e.g., img)? If so where?

    2. Is there a way to set the maximum size image that will be displayed when a user uses the "[img][/img]" code? So that large photos hosted somewhere else will be displayed correctly?
