  • Reputation images for many users are all the same

    I'm running 3.8.3.

Many users on my site love the reputation system, and have earned huge point totals. However, for some reason the reputation graphic seems to be stuck showing 5 dark greens and 5 light greens for almost everyone.

I've tried recalculating reputation values, but that didn't have any effect.

Any ideas on what might be wrong, or how to diagnose it?

There is a built-in limit to how many dots will be shown. Here is a breakdown of each dot:

I knew about the fixed values for each dot, but didn't realize that the maxed-out value was a mix of 5 dark and 5 bright (it looks strange), or that the maximum value that can be represented that way is only 1,500 points. I have a few members with more than 200,000 points, and 30,000 isn't unusual.

As a short-term fix, I edited functions_reputation.php to determine the number of dots by dividing the adjusted reputation value by 10,000 instead of 100. That seems to have fixed my main problem for now.

I'm not sure what the long-term answer is. Maybe I'll just show a number instead of the pips.
