  • Removing vBulletin version

    Hello everyone,

    I have a question about removing the version number. Is it OK if I did that?

    The reason is that I have a hacker who is running after my website, and he succeeded almost 3 time to hack my vBulletin. I think if I remove the version like this "Powered by vBulletinĀ® 2000 - 2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd." he wont be able to know which version I'm using and which holes to look for.

    Best regards

    Yes you can remove the version number, but not the vBulletin or the copyright info. To do this, edit the 'powered_by_vbulletin' phrase in the Phrase Manager and remove this:

    Version {1}

    Note: Please see this thread on how to make your vBulletin more secure:

    If you are still being hacked after doing all of this, then they are most likely doing this by accessing your server. You need to contact your host about this.
