    My two cents:

    - create a new vb forum for testing
    - use impex to import the archived forums
    - check it out and make sure everythingapped correctly .

    - if it works, get a second license and call it archive.site.com
    - keep your current site as-is

this way you spend less on licenses and you don't have to big down performance in the main site with old stuff.

Brainstorming - How to deal with multiple databases...

Ok so I run a site with a friend that has been around for about five years. About once a year he saves the database and prunes all the old posts and starts over with just the users information and no posts.

Well we finally got to the point where we want all these old posts back. Unfortunately they are located in five seperate database files and then theres the database we are currently using on the site.

Is there any way possible to merge these several databases in with the current live database to create one huge one that has all our old posts?

Or is this pretty unfeasible and would it be simpler to buy more vB licenses and just create archive.site.com, archive2.site.com and make mini forums for archive purposes with the old databases?
