  • Edit Thread Title

    Our Forums Post editing allowed is 1440 (which is 1 day or 24 hours).

    But Thread Title editing is 43200 (which is 30 days).

    I understand Thread Starter can click on Thread / Thread Starter (at Forums page) to edit Thread, but when double click, the page is immediately loaded into the thread, there is no way Thread Starter can edit the Thread @ Forums page THAT FAST which the page loading into the thread.

    How else can we edit the Thread Title?

    If not, how do you do it?

    If the AJAX editor is giving you problems then you can always select Thread Tools -> Edit Thread from the popup menu inside of the thread. You can edit the title there.

      Thanks. Hope I got this right > However the Edit Thread is missing from Thread Tools, please see attached.

      Did I missed out enabling anything?

        That means your user does not have that permission.

          Are there are more than one location in admincp to enable this function?
          [COLOR=Black]
          I enabled it via admincp > VB Options > Message Posting and Editing Options > Time Limit on Editing of Thread Title = 43200

          Did I miss other steps? Thanks!

            To troubleshoot this, first reupload all the original vB non-image files (except install.php). Make sure you upload these in ASCII format and overwrite the ones on the server. Also be sure to upload the admincp files to whichever directory you have set in your config.php file. Then run 'Suspect File Versions' in Diagnostics to make sure you have all the original files for your version and that none show 'File does not contain expected contents':

            Admin CP -> Maintenance -> Diagnostics -> Suspect File Versions

            [Note: In some cases you may also need to remove any of the listed .xml files in the includes/xml directory.]

            Next, disable all plugins.

            Note: To temporarily disable the plugin system, edit config.php and add this line right under <?php

            define('DISABLE_HOOKS', true);

            Then if you still have this problem, create a new style and choose no parent style. This will force it to use the default templates. Finally empty your browser cache, close all browser windows then try again. Make sure you change to the new style and view your forums with it.

            Do you have the same problem?

              ok thanks.

              I want to try the AJAX editor.

              We are supposed to double click on thread title at forumsdisplay, anyway of slowing the process so one can edit the title before it jumps into thread?

                Oh sorry. Only admins and mods have access to the Edit Thread page. Regular users can just edit the first post in the thread to change the thread title (within the time limit).
