  • Infraction faq

Im looking for a FAQ on infractions for mods on my forum to read, is there one about?

So it explains the procedure, how it works and the difference in points / warning?

    Thanks

    This document has some information:

Basically infractions are an advanced way to handle moderation and punishment of users on your forum. You can define different offenses with different point values. Users accumulate infraction points as they are infracted by moderators. These points can add up to automatic punishments, both temporary and permanent.

The infraction system can be useful on large forums where it's hard to keep track of all of the troublemakers. If your forum is not very large then I don't usually recommend infractions since they can over-complicate matters.

Well im running a 8,000 strong community, and wish to use infractions.

What gets me is that you can manually set points in the admincp, but also when you make an infraction you can choose the points its worth?

Then it also has a box for 'warning' does that mean its either a warning or points?

Yes that is an option if you want to weight an offense more or less depending on the circumstances.

A warning is an infraction that is worth 0 points. It carries no weight.
