how to make member title "moderator"

I made a member a moderator, works great, he is able to edit all as permission was granted.
However, his title is still "New Member". I even went in through Admin and physically changed the title to "moderator", but it still doesn't appear in the forum.

How do i do this?

You'd probably added this member to the Usergroup -> Moderators, in your ACP, therefore you should now give him a "Custom User Title" (ACP, User Manager).

ya know I did that . . . but when I went back to see if there was something I missed because of your post, the change I made was undone . . . I must have forgotten to hit save

Don't worry, it happened to me not to hit "save" in a translation page!
