  • User infraction in the user profile...

    Hi, everyone. I dunno how to hide the "infractions" menu at users profile page(the page that contains Visitor message, about me, statistics, friends, infractions and contact info). This menu doesn't appear in my own profile(probably because I'm the site admin?), so guess it should be possible to hide this menu for registered users as well. Please help.

    This block only shows in very limited circumstances.

    1) It will only be shown to users that have already received infractions.

    2) It shows for people who have permissions to either give or reverse infractions.

    3) It does not show to the general community.

      Nope. All the registered member in my community have this block and I'm trying to remove it from their user profiles page. Is it possible to do so?

          If the permissions are set correctly, then the only other possible cause is a modification.

          To troubleshoot this, first reupload all the original vB non-image files (except install.php). Make sure you upload these in ASCII format and overwrite the ones on the server. Also be sure to upload the admincp files to whichever directory you have set in your config.php file. Then run 'Suspect File Versions' in Diagnostics to make sure you have all the original files for your version and that none show 'File does not contain expected contents':

          Admin CP -> Maintenance -> Diagnostics -> Suspect File Versions

          [Note: In some cases you may also need to remove any of the listed .xml files in the includes/xml directory.]

          Next, disable all plugins.

          Note: To temporarily disable the plugin system, edit config.php and add this line right under <?php

          define('DISABLE_HOOKS', true);

          Then if you still have this problem, create a new style and choose no parent style. This will force it to use the default templates. Finally empty your browser cache, close all browser windows then try again. Make sure you change to the new style and view your forums with it.

          Do you have the same problem?

            As the administrator of the forums, you will see this on every user. Why? Because you can give infractions. However the registered users will not be able to see it except on their own profile. You would have to create a registered user account to verify this.

            Removing the tab removes a significant portion of the functionality of infractions and would make them impossible to monitor or reverse by your moderators and super moderators. If you want to do this, you might as well just turn the infraction system off and not use it.
