    What do you have backed up .. the raw /var/lib/mysql files... or an actual .sql dump?

      in the case that you have .sql

      i would:

      1) log into mysql then run: create database forum;
      2) from the shell run: mysql -u root -p -D forum < /path/to/file.sql
      3) once the database is there restore your /var/www/html/forum directory ( or where ever it was before)

      providing the original name of the database was "forum" and the mysql username and password havent changed from the original setup. The 3 steps above should work.

        Take a look in the manual. Here are links from the manual for restoring the database:
        Restoring The Database via SSH/Telnet or
        Restoring The Database via phpMyAdmin

        Please don't PM or VM me for support - I only help out in the threads.

        If I post CSS and you don't know where it goes, throw it into the additional.css template.
