  • Display new posts from individual forum?

    Hello all,

Could anyone tell me if there is a way of displaying new posts or threads from individual forum and its subforums?

For example, one can show post made today by using the suffix search.php?do=getdaily - is there a similar suffix to show new posts made in one forum.

    Many thanks in advance.

    Yes, you can do that.

search.php?do=getdaily actually gets posts from last day, not new posts.

    search.php?do=getnew gets new posts.

To get new posts from a particular forum, use the forum ID like this:

    search.php?do=getnew&f=140

    So for example:
    http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/searc...o=getnew&f=140

      Fantastic, thanks Donna!

Will that get all the subforum's new posts too?

Again, thank you for your help.

You're welcome! Yes, it will get new posts from the child forums also. That is noted in the title of the search that comes up. Using the same example I gave above, if you click it, the search title will say:
Search: New Posts ; Forum: vBulletin 3.8 Questions, Problems and Troubleshooting and child forums
        .:. Donna .:.

Sorry to bump up my old thread, but I have an additional question.........

Is there any syntax I can use to combine two forums in the search results, something like: search.php?do=getnew&f=140&f=139 ?

Or, even better, to exclude one or more forums from the search results?

              Many thanks in advance,

              OJ

                    Argh, except it isn't....

I'm getting the following error message:

Sorry, there are no new threads to view.

You may search for threads updated during the previous 24 hours, here.
Could you give me the exact syntax for x,y,z - is it just the number id of the forums?

                        So for example:
                        http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/searc...o=getnew&f=140
we just switched over from ubb and several members liked the feature that had the new posts number shown for each forum like this:

TITLE OF FORUM (X PEOPLE VIEWING) (NUMBER OF NEW POSTS would be in red and only for that particular forum)

how would you do that for all the individual forums and sub-forums?

where in the code? which template?

                        thanks in advance.

There's no function to do this in the default code but you could look at something like this from www.vbulletin.org in it's place:

                            http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=197485
