  • Infraction group problem

On my forum I have set up a special area for the rule breakers.

    condists of:

    1 forum to post
no access to pm, or other features. and only visible to admin, mods and rule breaker group.

I then set up a custom infraction which on a set number of points moves the offender to the rule breaker group.

all works up to this point, however on testing the user is placed in the correct group, but the original permissions are not being over written correctly, and the original permissions cannot view the forum and so the rule breaker still cant view, but also cannot view the other forums as per permissions.

Is this a bug or am i missing something.

Ive set overide original in group manager, and in infraction still not working

    any help appreciated.

Make sure the permissions are setup correctly. Infraction groups override Yes permissions with No permissions. The Yes permissions for an infraction group are ignored. It's the No permissions which affect the user's access in the case of infraction groups.

For example, make sure the infraction group has no access to other forums:

Admin CP -> Forums & Moderators -> Forum Permissions

i still cant get my head round this, here's what i have done.

      1. Created a group called probation, and based it on registered users.

      2. Forum viewing is all off apart from one area the cells, normal viewing by mods and admin is allowed and the probation group.

now the group set as primary works perfect, the problem start when i add the infraction, if the registered users group isnt allowed to view the area then neither can the probation group if it is allowed then they can view the cells which I dont want. I sure there must be a way but just cant get it

Infraction groups can only take away permissions. The Yes permissions are ignored when the group is being used as an infraction group.
