  • I just updated and nothing has changed...

I just updated the forums to Release 3.8 and nothing has changed. Besides the fact that it says we are running 3.8 and that our admin panel says we are 3.8, none of the new features have happened. I ran the update script and followed the tutorial instructions perfectly. The only error I can see happening was when I overwrote the old files with the new ones.... But that should have gone fine. Blagh. Help?

      100%

100% of the 'new' features. When I was overwriting the files I selected
"synchronize using automatic rules: the file will be resumed, overwritten, or skipped according to the preconfigured file exist rules in the favorite."
      was that the correct choice?

It would help if you were more specific. However if what you say is true, then you did not do this upgrade correctly. I would need more info to know what to recommend.

          well

Well I uploaded the new files VIA SmartFTP and dragged over the new file (renamed to same as old) to replace the old one and a pop up came up giving me options so I chose this one:
synchronize using automatic rules: the file will be resumed, overwritten, or skipped according to the preconfigured file exist rules in the favorite.
then once everything was done, I ran the update script.

              I am

              I am using SmartFTP
Originally I was going to do it through the cPanel, but I am a newbie and don't know how. So I chose to do it through SmartFTP.

To troubleshoot this, first reupload all the original vB non-image files (except install.php). Make sure you upload these in ASCII format and overwrite the ones on the server. Also be sure to upload the admincp files to whichever directory you have set in your config.php file. Then run 'Suspect File Versions' in Diagnostics to make sure you have all the original files for your version and that none show 'File does not contain expected contents':

Admin CP -> Maintenance -> Diagnostics -> Suspect File Versions

[Note: In some cases you may also need to remove any of the listed .xml files in the includes/xml directory.]

                Next, disable all plugins.

Note: To temporarily disable the plugin system, edit config.php and add this line right under <?php

                define('DISABLE_HOOKS', true);

Then if you still have this problem, create a new style and choose no parent style. This will force it to use the default templates. Finally empty your browser cache, close all browser windows then try again. Make sure you change to the new style and view your forums with it.

Do you have the same problems?
