Social groups are created by regular users whereas forums are created by the admin. Social groups are more organic while forums are more structured.

Ok, so I noticed that vB 3.8 has been released and the two big things people are raving about is the Google AdSense integration and threading in social groups.

Having never used social groups before. What exactly is the difference between a social group and a forum (other than user moderation)?

It's a category of special interest that people post threads to. Is that not just a forum that a user was able to create on their own and moderate?

A clear definition which illustrates the differences between forums and socail groups would be great.

    Thank You,
