  • Social Group grouplist is not working

Hey, I have the problem that after updating to 3.8 the link from the site "Social Groups" called "View all groups" is not working. It is always leading to itself and I end up on the site "Social Groups".

Strange enough it is working in my testforum.

So far I reverted all social groups templates, after that I copied all templates from the test to the real forum. Still the same.

Any ideas what to do to solve that issue?

    Thank you very much!

Try this. Create a new style and choose no parent style. This will force it to use the default templates. Then change to this style and view your forums with it. Do you have the same problem?

If you do, empty your browser cache, close all browser windows and try again.

If you do not have this problem with the original templates, then this means the problem is with one or more of your custom templates. You need to revert your templates, then redo your changes.

      Thank you very much.

I have done all you said, the result is still the same, it is not working properly. Still leading to itself, using the default style, my own style and the extra no parent style as you suggested. I emptied the caches of my Browser everytime.

Strange is that inside of my testforum, using the default and my own style it is working.

I re-uploaded all new files before, ran the upgrade script quickly again, but still the same effect.

Do you think you can help me? Thanks a lot!

This has to be from a modification. This does work with the default vB.

To troubleshoot this, first reupload all the original vB non-image files (except install.php). Make sure you upload these in ASCII format and overwrite the ones on the server. Also be sure to upload the admincp files to whichever directory you have set in your config.php file. Then run 'Suspect File Versions' in Diagnostics to make sure you have all the original files for your version and that none show 'File does not contain expected contents':

Admin CP -> Maintenance -> Diagnostics -> Suspect File Versions

[Note: In some cases you may also need to remove any of the listed .xml files in the includes/xml directory.]

        Next, disable all plugins.

Note: To temporarily disable the plugin system, edit config.php and add this line right under <?php

        define('DISABLE_HOOKS', true);

I see you are using vBSEO. There is an incompatibility between that third-party add-on and vB 3.8.0 and this time. Please see this announcement:

Yes, that's right. I patched the vbseo.php already, before I upgraded to 3.8.0.

I will do what you told me now, otherwise switch off vBseo until their patch is released.

            Thanks a lot!

To all who might have a similar problem: the reason has been the vBSEO, although I use the patched vbseo.php file!!!

Inactivating the software is fixing the problem, so that there is no impact on vB 3.8.0 (which is much more important to me). Still I hope vBSEO is going to release their new version pretty soon (quite an expensive piece of software to be on stand-by ;-)).

Thanks a lot Steve and vBulletin!!
