My forum stats say there is a total of 75,446 posts. But as I'm rebuilding the search index it's going way beyond that. It's up to well over 79,000 as I write this? Why?

Initially, the last post ID will match the total number of posts; but as your Forum grows and you start deleting spam / offtopic posts, the latest Post ID (an auto increment number which won't reuse the ID's of old deleted posts) in use will not match your total post count.
This is what I have noticed in my Forums. The joy of an early release lasts but a short time. The bitterness of an unusable system lasts for years.
