  • v3.8.0 beta 1 social groups corruption

    I am running v3.8.0 beta 1 on a test board and have somehow corrupted the social groups portion of the sql table.

    Could someone please give me a way to either rebuild the following part of the database and wipe out the 3 social groups I have.

    If I try to access a social group from /forums/group.php I get the following error:

    Code:
    Database error in vBulletin 3.8.0 Beta 1:

    Invalid SQL:

                    SELECT SQL_CALC_FOUND_ROWS
                        gm.*, user.*, gm.ipaddress AS messageipaddress
                        ,deletionlog.userid AS del_userid, deletionlog.username AS del_username, deletionlog.reason AS del_reason
                        ,avatar.avatarpath, NOT ISNULL(customavatar.userid) AS hascustomavatar, customavatar.dateline AS avatardateline,customavatar.width AS avwidth,customavatar.height AS avheight, customavatar.width_thumb AS avwidth_thumb, customavatar.height_thumb AS avheight_thumb, filedata_thumb, NOT ISNULL(customavatar.userid) AS hascustom

                    FROM groupmessage AS gm
                    LEFT JOIN user AS user ON (gm.postuserid = user.userid)
                    LEFT JOIN avatar AS avatar ON(avatar.avatarid = user.avatarid) LEFT JOIN customavatar AS customavatar ON(customavatar.userid = user.userid)
                    LEFT JOIN deletionlog AS deletionlog ON (gm.gmid = deletionlog.primaryid AND deletionlog.type = 'groupmessage')

                    WHERE gm.groupid = 4
                        AND (gm.state IN ('visible','moderation','deleted'))

                    ORDER BY gm.dateline DESC
                    LIMIT 0, 5;

    The first thing I'd do is upgrade to beta 2 and try again.

          No. I was saying you should run the upgrade script to upgrade to the latest version.

          But since it's just a test installation, you should delete it and start with a fresh installation.

            Thanks, I upgraded to the new 3.8.0 beta 2 version and it fixed the database corruption.
            I was hesitant to do anything at all since I didn't wan the corruption to become worse.

              This SQL code :
              Code:
              alter table `groupmessage` add `groupid` int(10) unsigned NOT NULL;
              Run.

                Uh oh. I ran your sql command and now...

                I had the same issue as above. With v. 3.8.2. So I ran your mysql query, and now receive this error upon entering a social group instead of the original one above.

                Fatal error: Class 'vB_Group_MessageFactory' not found in /home/wss/public_html/communicate/group.php on line 1297

                I just upgraded from 3.7 a few days ago.

                    why a separate thread?

                    My issue is directly related. Wouldn't other readers prefer to see related threads in one place? Hmm. I will reread the forum rules.

                      I've recently upgraded to version 3.8.7 patch 2 and have started getting the problem. Will running that SQL code fix it, and where do I run it if it will?

                      Thanks.

                        You should start a new thread with all the relevant details - this thread is several years old.
