  • new thread internal erroe

okay when I click new thread it lets me as usual but when I click submit I get this

    Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.
Please contact the server administrator, [email protected] and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.
More information about this error may be available in the server error log.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

Any idea how I can fix this one?

Internal Server errors are generally related to either a server problem, or added code to the vB files and/or templates.

To troubleshoot this, first reupload all the original vB non-image files (except install.php). Make sure you upload these in ASCII format and overwrite the ones on the server. Also be sure to upload the admincp files to whichever directory you have set in your config.php file. Then run 'Suspect File Versions' in Diagnostics to make sure you have all the original files for your version and that none show 'File does not contain expected contents':

Admin CP -> Maintenance -> Diagnostics -> Suspect File Versions

[Note: In some cases you may also need to remove any of the listed .xml files in the includes/xml directory.]

    Next, disable all plugins.

Note: To temporarily disable the plugin system, edit config.php and add this line right under <?php

    define('DISABLE_HOOKS', true);

Then if you still have this problem, create a new style and choose no parent style. This will force it to use the default templates. Finally empty your browser cache, close all browser windows then try again. Make sure you change to the new style and view your forums with it. Do you have the same problem?

Okay well it seems to have worked by replacing all the vb files with new ones.

Also I have changed host and domains to .com instead of .net

and for some reason when uploading everything and importing the database quite a few threads had been cut off and missing things on it. Do you have any idea why?
same with users sigs as well.

If there are posts missing (IE: I know I posted "ASDF" but it is no longer in the thread), then it is likely that your host took a backup w/o closing your forum down, people continued to post, but the posts were not captured during the backup, and so they were not carried over. Nothing can be done about this unless you want to lose posts made after the move by re-doing the move again. You should just inform your users about this and move on.

If there are cut offs happening (IE: I know I posted "ASDF" but it shows up only as "AS"), then the backup that was taken is likely corrupted or bad. You will need to contact your host and have them look into it for you. If for whatever reason they mess up the field types (very highly unlikely), then you will see more problems down the road, too.

Turns out I still get this
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.
Please contact the server administrator, [email protected]____.com and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.
More information about this error may be available in the server error log.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
do you think my database is total messed up?

this time it was when editing something and I don't think it will be the last time I see it.

if it is my database is there anyway I can fix it?

No, chances are your host has mod_security or suhosin installed.

Its possible one or both are causing the internal server error.
