If you're looking to retain the content from the old domain then do this:

    - close your forum via AdminCP
    - update the URL in the Members Area
    - update the Forum URL in AdminCP > vBulletin Options > Site Name / URL / Contact Details to the new URL
    - backup the database (*see below)
    - copy the filestructure and remove from old server
    - upload files to new server
    - restore database from above to new server
    - edit config.php to ensure details are still correct
    - open your forums on new URL

*The most reliable method of backing up and restoring a database is with shell access via ssh. This is because backing up with a PHP script like phpMyAdmin can result in PHP timeouts errors and an incomplete backup file. Please see the instructions here:

    Backup:
    https://www.vbulletin.com/docs/html/...nce_ssh_backup

    Restore:
    https://www.vbulletin.com/docs/html/...ce_ssh_restore

P.S. If you don't have shell access, some people have also reported success with these scripts:

    MySQLDumper:
    http://www.mysqldumper.de/en/index.php

    MySQLHotxcopy:
    https://www.vbulletin.com/forum/show...t=mysqlhotcopy

    Bigdump:

Moving VB 3.87 to Another Domain

We currently have a VBulletin 3.87 forum setup on one domain. Our plans have changed and we now want to move it to another domain.

Is this possible by advising VBulletin and switching our member account to another url, without having to reinstall the software?

    Thank you.
