  • Errors seen during installation about PHP

    Hello,

Any idea why this is happening?

    Top of install page:
    Code:
Deprecated: Assigning the return value of new by reference is deprecated in /usr/local/apache2/htdocs/vbulletin/includes/class_core.php on line 2529 Deprecated: Function set_magic_quotes_runtime() is deprecated in /usr/local/apache2/htdocs/vbulletin/includes/class_core.php on line 1644 Deprecated: Assigning the return value of new by reference is deprecated in /usr/local/apache2/htdocs/vbulletin/includes/functions.php on line 933 Deprecated: Assigning the return value of new by reference is deprecated in /usr/local/apache2/htdocs/vbulletin/includes/functions.php on line 937
    Bottom of install page:
    Code:
Warning: date(): It is not safe to rely on the system's timezone settings. You are *required* to use the date.timezone setting or the date_default_timezone_set() function. In case you used any of those methods and you are still getting this warning, you most likely misspelled the timezone identifier. We selected 'America/Los_Angeles' for 'PDT/-7.0/DST' instead in /usr/local/apache2/htdocs/vbulletin/includes/adminfunctions.php on line 390

    Hello,

Okay, I've taken all of the "&" character on the lines it reported about "Assigning the return value of new by reference is deprecated" and it works beautifully.

php is setup to report error msg's

display_errors = On - Change it to off and restart apache, if this is a vps/dedicated server

You can try placing a php.ini file in your public_html as well & disable it there, if the host allows it on a vhosted account.

Actually I took out all the & for memory de-referencing and it doesn't log any more errors.

I was simply stating what its produced from, the deprecated msg's wont hurt anything anyways.

Its better to turn that off anyways, anything related to logging or msgs from php should be disabled unless your having issues anyways, diet for php.
