"Put everything back" is a little vague. Best steps:

    1. You backed up everything, including your database and forum directory, right?
    2. Restore your backup. That's the only real way of "putting everything back".
    3. Verify your 3.5.x installation is working properly. Then turn the 3.8.5 forum OFF.
    4. Turn off all MODs.
    5. Unzip the 3.8.4 package and upload the Upload folder contents to your forum directory on the webserver.
    6. Run the upgrade script.

Remember that 3.8.5 is the current version, not 3.8.4. Additionally, do note that 3.8.4pl2 had the cookie salt change, so if you go there, you might have some users with login problems.

Upgrade issues 3.5.2 to 3.8.4 PL2 Please help...

We are upgrading from an old version 3.5.2 to 3.8.4 and during the upgrade I get stuck at a few spots. I tried skipping them that did not work.

So I put everything back tried again, I get to "This script will update your vBulletin installation to version 3.7.0 Release Candidate 4" step one Step 1) Critical Template Changes and it just hangs there.. The file is upgrade_370rc4.php?step=1

Any idea how to get this to work?
