  • MySQL server has gone away Errors!

    Frequent server time-outs because of "MySQL server has gone away". It's almost like this is happening more and more frequently after the upgrade to version 3.80. Any clues?

    Database error in vBulletin :

    If you get mysql server gone away error messages, then keep increasing wait_timeout value in my.cnf by 60 second increments, then restart mysql after my.cnf changes for it to take effect. Test for a few days and see if you get less or eliminate that error message. If it still occurs, then keep repeating the 60 second increment until the message goes away.
    Some advice I got from Eva in a server optimization request.

    Doing that may stop the errors but there may be some other underlying problems that are causing the time-outs too.

      you need to speak to your webhost about this... it means the mysql server has died.

        thanks to both of you. It's almost like it is happening more than ever. Would it have anything to do with the 3.8 version??
