  • Changing a users name -- Not updating

    Hello,

I am in the process of changing a couple of users names and the update is not propagating properly all the time. For example, I change the user of "user1" to be user name "User One". If I go back to the main forum page or any forum, I'll look and sure enough, all of their posts have been updated and it now says "Topic - by User One". I go to change "user2" to be "User Two". Go back to the main forum page, or any forum, and it still says "Topic - by user2", it won't update their name on the forum posts. Same for "New Topics" it does not update their user name there either. It happens randomly. The second user has posted around 250 articles, could that be why? If I log in as them and edit the post, it changes the name for that post immediately, but it's not going and updating all the previous posts.

As an update, I just noticed, it shows the old user name on the main forum page under "Last Post", as well as any sub-forum under last post. But once you get to the forum where the post has actually been posted, it shows their new user name. Again, this only happens for certain users, there are others I change their name and immediately the forum main page "Last Post" shows their new name. Not sure what I'm missing.

Anyone know how I can fix this?

    Thank you!

Display is cached and will take a few minutes to update completely. You may be able to get around this by clearing the system cache under maintenance. If this is not a Cloud site, you can also update the user info, topic info, and forum info under Maintenance -> General Update tools to speed the process. Depending on the size of your site, those tools may take quite a while to run. Often longer than it takes the display cache to expire.

Gotcha, thank you Wayne! That makes total sense, because the user that seems to update immediately only had two posts ... then I moved on to the guy that now has almost 300 posts, and it "broke" it. So it must just be going through and updating because he posted so much content! Just need to wait it out, awesome, thanks big time for the support! And yeah its a cloud site but it'll be worth the wait! Appreciate the quick response!

UPDATE: It must have just finished, every post has been updated now. YESSSS Thank you so much!
