  • admin cannot change user password in User Manager

    Getting: "You did not enter the correct format for the Can you spell this? field. Please read the field description for the expected format."
    No options to follow these instructions.

    The "Can You Spell This?" field would seem to be a Custom User Profile Field that is required. Probably something you added to reduce SPAM registrations as it doesn't occur in a default installation. You would have to fill in that field as well. I am guessing the answer is 'this'.

    You can see these fields in the AdminCP under User Profile Fields -> User Profile Field Manager.

      Even as an admin to edit a user's pass? I did find that buried down to the left, and I do know the membership join answer, but it requires knowing the actual question to answer. Can You Spell This? was VBulletin's title for the question field but not the question. Who would have known?

      Update: filled in the answer and got this: Error Invalid SQL: UPDATE userfield SET `field5`='R',`field1`='',`field2`='',`field3`='',`field4`='' WHERE (`userid` = 8807 ) /**userfield**/;

      Apparently I can't do any edits until all user profile fields on the user manager are filled in. These are supposed to be optional fields for members to tell us about themselves, not required. I don't even know why the security question is there. Does just putting in a few characters satisfy the form criteria? There are no real statements for any of them.

      I'm thinking that a few things were broken in the migration from 4 to Cloud that you guys performed. No one's fault. No access to Sitebuilder and all this.

      It appears I can delete all those profile fields, which would have been nice to have, but if they screw up admin tasks, it's not worth it.

      Given the flood of bot memberships we still get, we still need the question "firewall" in place.

      I'd do all this, but simply shooting in the dark with this new version. Don't want to mess things up.

      It isn't a field that is created by vBulletin on installation. One of the site admins would have added it. You can delete in the Custom User Profile Field manager if it no longer fits your purpose.

    I'll try this one with support. Forum doesn't allow image uploads (tried a low res screenshot) at the moment, so hard to explain.
