  • Sitemap submission

We generated a sitemap in the AdminCP. While working with our Google Console we got this message.

Sitemap can be read, but has errors
Your Sitemap does not contain any URLs. Please validate and resubmit your Sitemap.

Well on our copy of it we see URLs. Any ideas? But those URLs are not indicating any channels on the board? Is that what they mean.

What is the URL that you're submitting?

    It should be https://www.yourdomain.com/core/xmlsitemap.php

And now that is working. Now here is the final question. I don't know if the sitemap alone will affect this.

At petgroomerforums.com DNS we did the CNAME route with www and indeed if you type in www.petgroomerforums.com it does get to our vCloud site.

In Google search results they provide and have for a long time a search result that says PetGroomerForums.com and it is linked to https://petgroomerforums.com and if you click that link in the search engine results it cannot find the site.

Well it's got to go to the www but GoDaddy says you cannot do a redirect to www.petgroomerforums.com. Does that sound correct?

Makes sense. They didn't think of it. I will give it a try.

Actually we tried this and later tried the link and there is a Security Alert shown, so removed it. Can I ask what would then be the easiest way to create a simple index landing page instead, and then link to the forum keeping the www for now, or moving it to forums.pet...... any quick build a web page builders anyone can suggest.

If you still have hosting with GoDaddy, then you will probably want to use an .htaccess redirect. https://www.godaddy.com/help/redirec...matically-8828

We don't have any other hosting associated of this domain with GoDaddy at this time but could with a SSL cert. Perhaps just a simple welcome index landing page for petgroomerforums.com and on that page add a link to the www hosted cloud board www.petgroomerforums or of course create a forums subdomain for the vcloud board. Right?

                    You could do that.

That's what we might likely to. I worked with GoDaddy and they were curious why the forwarding issue? It actually works perfect if the URL is just http:// and the DNS will forward to the CNAME www board. But if you specify https:// all major browsers balk and warn because there is no website at the non WWW url. And they balk loud. Surprised the GoDaddy people.

What they suggest is that immediately after the landing page is published, go back and make sure the CNAME to www is still there and if not restore it.

Publishing a web page shouldn't affect your DNS entries but we're talking about GoDaddy here. I would have to defer to them as they know more about their servers than I do.
