I currently see 97 issues related to Private Messages. These ones are most relevant to this conversation:

    https://tracker.vbulletin.com/vbulle...sues/VBV-14158
    https://tracker.vbulletin.com/vbulle...sues/VBV-13675
    https://tracker.vbulletin.com/vbulle...ssues/VBV-8070
    https://tracker.vbulletin.com/vbulle...ssues/VBV-6815

VBV-14158 should remove folders and just put everything in a Messages window. From there, we can implement other changes such as a deletion flag per user in the conversation.

Yeah, I don't think moving PMs into folders will do anything to speed things up. The folder filter would be applied on display. The API call would still retrieve all the PMs until it fills a page that fits the filter.

The idea of "Sent vs Received" PMs is obsolete in vBulletin 5. Every PM is a threaded topic just like those in the forums. Every single message is both sent and received at the same time. They simply exist. Like I said, the entire idea of folders needs to go away. Instead, users should be able to tag PMs to categorize them.

Well it was suggested that I move messages into folders to speed up the PM system, which I did move all Inbox PMs from 2009 - 2018 into folders, one folder for each year - but I am not sure that I see any speed increase in load of PMs. Also, the inbox still shows a couple hundred empty pages that used to contain PMs.

Was wondering if moving the out (Sent Items) PM messages into folders too will help speed things up.

Is there a way to stop the welcome PM from appearing in the Sent Items?

You can edit the Administrator usergroup to tell it to ignore the PM Quota.

You can delete all Private Messages from a user in the ADminCP by viewing that user's profile and selecting the appropriate option off the Quick Link drop down menu at the top of the page.

It would also be nice if there were a way to mass move lots of message into a folder.
The folder paradigm is really out-dated. It needs to either change drastically or be removed. I think a better solution would be to allow tagging and filtering by tags on Private Messages. Especially now that it has vB Messenger built on top of it.

Mass delete of sent messages for Admin

While using vB4 for many years we never got a message advising Admin (who had a setting capacity to store 200 messages) that the registration welcome email sent by Admin was being counted as part of the 200. So now in the vCloud Admin attempts to send a message and we get a message that Admin has 22,000 messages stored beyond the 200 allotment. Well we checked and indeed those thousands are the welcome message messages sent when someone joined all those years passed. Any quick way to mass delete the Admin's message folder for sent items?
