Quote problem with special characters

if a username contains special characters like [], there is a problem with the link at the quote of one of the posts. Is that known?

These type of characters should not be used in usernames.

Really a username ought to be limited to alphanumeric characters only. Anything else risks causing problems.

Currently the workaround is to not allow these characters. You can place the ] character in the illegal usernames field and it should be disallowed.

In the AdminCP go to Settings -> Options -> User Registration Options to handle illegal usernames.

I'd second this. It also doesn't add any additional level of security when user names are in plain text in any case.

If something causes problems, then the system must prevent the input. I don't see any hint texts if I create an account with such usernames here at vbulletin.com.

Thanks, but I can't plausibly explain this to any user who has been using the username for 10 or more years?
