Automatic login after registration?

I dont want that people are automatic logged in after their registration. Its confusing for new users. Can I switch this off? In our case the next step is to confirm the email.

You can change it by going to AdminCP> Settings>Options>User Registration Options>Edit settings> and make the changes and when finished scroll to bottom and click Save

Hmm – thats not the answer. There is no checkbox about automatic login. I know, they can not see any content, but they are logged in.

I know what you mean. They show as logged in but if they click their user profile they get a message that they are not authorised to access that area and should log in or register, but they are logged in so it's confusing to them.

If the automatic log in cannot be changed maybe you could change the phase to "log in, register or activate your account?"

Most sites don't restrict the profile to people in the Awaiting Moderation or Awaiting Email Confirmation usergroups.

However, you can create a non-dismissable notice at the top of every page using the Notices system telling them what their next steps are... This would help them get their accounts confirmed and reduce confusion.

Mine contains this content:

<p>Welcome {username},<br>
Thank you for registering at the RabidBadger Community Forums. Your account is currently awaiting for you to confirm your email address. Please do this by clicking on the link provided in the email sent or by entering the code in the email on the <a href="{activation_page}">Activation Page</a><p>

<p>Welcome to the community and thank you for registering.</p>

The reason we did that was because we found that spammers were registering with false email addresses never activating their account but adding website link and other info to their profile.

We didn't always have time to go through deleting them immediately and in the meantime they had that info on the site, albeit only in their profile but we didn't like it.
