  • Milescape IS great!

    I love the service these guys provide.

    On Monday evening, I totally destroyed a site of mine by deleting the wrong database. I thought I had made a backup of the correct one and to my horror, it was the wrong one. Well I emailed Milescape support and asked if they had a backup of the database from Monday and they did, it was just restored and my ratings site is now back in business!

    I reccomend these guys to anyone, reliable servers, great service and that makes happy customers!!!!!!!!!!!

    Shouldn't web hosting companies make system backups anyway?
    I have come across this several times with clients and when we contacted the hosting company they went through their backup and pulled out the .sql from 7 hours earlier that was still in tact. They even gave a temporary database and imported it to check if it was 100%.

    Milescape is good though; I like them.

      Sounds like a good hosting company. Floris is right, a good hosting company will make backups each night...not just once every couple of nights. We have even gone to the model of nightly backups for out customers.

        I agree, it should be a nightly thing and it is with milescape. I had heard other hosting companys being very bad at backups and even charging money to restore a backup. I was willing to pay a charge if there was one but there wasn't!

          My site is currently with Milescape and we are moving off of it. I am absolutely fed up. Their support staff was never very helpful. Over the last year they would either not know how to fix what was wrong, claim we don't have a problem when we certainly did, or tell us its our issue, not theirs, when it most definitely was a server issue.

          Now, they aren't responding to my tickets at all. I've sent several e-mails, I've IMed the staff, and I've submitted a support ticket through their website. Nothing by silence. This is ridiculous.

          On top of that, since we've gone live on their server, like 30% of our users have only sporatic access to our website.

          Milescape is USELESS. Don't do business with them.

            I would agree now. It seems after the past three months that this is not the same great host that they used to be. At the time I posted my first message on this thread, Milescape WAS great! They used to respond to my tickets most times within 15 minutes, even in the middle of the night. Quan used to be the best support guy they had and I could always count on him. I used to have three servers setup through them, now I am down to one and that is only because the sites on it don't require much.

            It's sad to see what happened to Milescape. When they first started out, the service was bad, then over night they improved 100%. Now it's back to horrible again.

            I have been with Milescape almost from their beginning.
