Has anyone tried servermatrix dedicated servers

Been looking at dedicated servers for a couple of weeks or so.

The ServerMatrix offering do look pretty good. Some nice features.the vlan is handy if you have multiple servers. Might search at www.webhostingtalk.com on them, see how they are doing lately.

Personally, I am happy with EV1. Stable network, and have been responsive when I need them. vlan would be nice for my servers... ServerMatrix has them beat on that for sure.

There was a pretty large mishap the other day with The Planet / Server Matrix causing anywheres from 6-7 hours of downtime for some segments of their network. I see no prior complaints though when we picked up a server from them last week. I would also recommend taking a look at Dedicated Now.

What i can tell you is though if you do purchase through them you get the servers for less then going direct to the company, included is CPANEL and a few other things. They also feature one of the fastest datacenters on the net, with Level 3, NTT / Verio, Cognet, and about 6 other providers all into the one datacenter.

So their site may look shabby, but the speeds are nice.

I would also recommend taking a look at Dedicated Now.

Pretty sure DedNow aren't taking any new orders right now.

In this regard, are these companies typably negotiable? In other words, are they hungry at this time? Possibly throw in cpanel or one free hour a month of support time, etc. Answering my own question... I would think so, but it would be nice to hear of any others who have had success in this regard.

Some may be willing to negotiate. I would suggest you e-mail (or IM them if they post that contact info)their Sales people and ask if they can budge. Some may be flexible on Set-Up fees, etc.... Never hurts to ask them.

Wow that's almost an oxymoron saying speed and Cogent in the same sentence.

Cogent has the worst latency and poorest overall routing of any host i've ever seen. I'm also sure that's the reason you can get a 100megabit dedicated drop from them for $1000.00 a month. You get what you pay for.

Well, having Cogent in the mix is not as bad as solely using Cogent as the only link, so I can't say it is all that bad. Most affordable/low-cost dedicated providers do use Cogent, though I believe RackShack ditched Cogent if I am not mistaken.

I'm looking at leaving Server Beach in a week. ServerMatrix is high on my list.

Your post is a couple of months old so now that you have some 'experience' with them - How has Server Matrix worked out for you?

No hiccups at all. Smooth as silk. Glad I made this choice. I haven't had a need for tech support at all except a couple a odd questions at the beginning since it was my first dedicated server.
