NO bandwidth is unlimited. Check out rackshack.net if you have some experience with a box. If you don't have any experience then go with dedicatednow.com

well it sounds like your current box SHOULD be able to handle it, at least it should be able to at loads a lot below 50... I play with a box now that handles about 400 ppl on a vbulletin, at about 2-3 load... Are you sure everything is configured right (AIM me, f0urtyfive, if you want some help configging...). If it still isnt handling it well, I'd suggest moving to a dual server combo, DB server / web server behind a firewall. But you cant really head to most normal companies... PM/AIM me if you want some advice.

are you constantly surpassing >500 users online ?

if so you may need 2 servers, 1 for web server and 1 as dedicated mysql database server..

            maybe

            dual p3 1.4ghz
            1.5GB REG ECC PC2100 DDRAM
            2 x 36GB 10,000rpm scsi raid 1
            1 x 80GB WD 8mb cache 800JB IDE hdd backup
            RH 7.3
latest stable 2.4.x smp linux kernel
            Apache 1.3.27
            PHP 4.3.1
            MySQL 3.23.55
            PHPA 1.3.x

Your current server spec should be more than capable of handling that. What speed is it connected at?

You should know as it is very important.

If you have a server connected to the net with a 56k modem then of course it will be slow. (example) So what speed is your server connected to the internet at?

Are your crazy? 500 concurrent users on a single box? This box could probably just barely handle it, if maximized...

His current spec is probably a 'desktop'... P4.
