  • Dedicatednow?

    http://www.dedicatednow.com/

Anyone here using them? The pricing is within my range though the setup cost is pretty pricey. One time cost option for memory upgrades and remote reboot port, plus WHM/Cpanel for relatively cheap too.

And they are really close to me...

I got my server last weekend, not had a good chance to put it through its paces yet.

Paid them to install Qmail for me last weekend, they done a partial install and then never finished it and my emails have gone ignored for a week. So i'm not too sure about the tech support.

All the offeres listed are for dedicated servers with IDE drives, not SCSI.

I'd take a slower CPU with SCSI over a powerful CPU with IDE.

I have a dedicatednow server for my www.eqinterface.com / www.eqgui.com webpage (73,000 members). I got in on there grand opening sale (no-setup and $130/m for p4 1.7 w/cpanel&whm). I love their network... very fast and stable. I have not needed any real support yet so I cant say anything good or bad about that. Basicly they are a new division of pwebtech a very well respected host.

Have a check over at www.webhostingtalk.com . Alot of dedicated server buyers hang there. Do a search for dedicatednow and I'm sure you'll find some info.

Another pwebtech site. Similar price as webreseller and rackshack. Cheap is not always the best, go for the SCSI and as much memory as possible. For your skating board, you will need it - don't you run that board?

Do you really need to go dedicated? I thought you moved host not that long ago. If you want superior hardware and setup, go elsewhere.

Not everyone has that much cash to spare.

From what I've seen the bottleneck has been the CPU not the disk subsystem or memory... maybe in a year when the 3.06Ghz P4s with hyperthreading fall to P4 2.0Ghz prices, I'll go get one of those.

I would not recommend them to anyone now, they suspended my account under violation of the AUP which I am failing to see.

              The support was also terrible.

Scott - I read about your problems with Dedicatednow on WHT.

Glad I did NOT go with them - in the end, I took the risky route of uncertainty (given all the problems some people have had) and went with Rackshack, and sin of all sins, I only decided to fork out enough cash for a celery too!

Instant activation (Ensim server) was really just that for me, had extra IPs I requested and reverse DNS entries all set up with 48 hours, plus did all the upgrades/patches I wanted in place myself, and the server is up and running my site all peachy now.

Don't really need support on server since I do all the work myself anyways... support is useful only to mess up things for you!
