  • KDA webhosting? Where are you?

    What has happened?

I can't access my site, my ftp, my e-mail, or even the host's site.

    Help, anyone?

Wouldn't it make more sense to contact the hosting company directly?

      Yes it would.
But as their domain was unreachable I tried here as I know they come here sometimes.

          Hi,

Please accept our appologies, the facilities with our DNS in had a problem with their local loop from Verizon which cut us off the net for a period. We are currently planning a split of our DNS between two facilities to prevent this, unfortunately we were not able to complete this before Christmas as we had hoped. All sites hosted in our UK facilities were available during the period, unfortunately as the DNS was down it depending on the cached DNS at your ISP as to wether you could access your site via your domain name.

          Thank you,
          Karl Austin

There have been no issues with the servers your site is on or the UK network tonight.

<v> - If your site is on Wolverine then yes we just had a glitch with it, it locked up and as it is in our USA facility we had to phone to have it rebooted - unfortunately the phones went straight to answerphone. Our UK facility is fitted out with remote reboot capabilities.

Mine is back up again now too.
Let's hope it stays that way a little longer this time.

Your site is on our UK servers, with which there are no issues, I have an SSH session open on the web server in question and there are no problems.

As we have stated in the past, if you experience connectivity issues then please send us:

                      Traceroute
                      ISP Name
                      Description of the problem

                      Thank you,

If there are no problems then why do I keep loosing my site and yours?
When your domain is unreachable then I can't send you any info.

ISP problems are the largest cause of any connectivity issues people have. It seems a lot of people tonight are having problems getting to various sites around the net (Have being speaking to a few people on ICQ), there are various sites I can't get too. So it actually looks like there is something going on with routing tonight within the UK. One of my ISPs is pretty much unusable and the other is very slow and a bit dodgy too.

As for traceroutes, keep them until you can email them to us, they still help, 99.9% of connectivity problems are with a users ISP.

                          Thank you,
                          Karl Austin

firstly i appologise for any spellings cos im kinda under the influence of alcohol

I can back up what karls saying. I use 3 seperate dns servers - my isps, bt dns and my works dns. There is something funky going on with dns tonight - about 30 minutes ago all my dns died. Id just connected to irc and msn, then it died. couldnt reach any websites, couldnt ping hostnames etc.

I left it for 10-15 mins and it came back - without any user intervention.

You have to remember, its the xmas period - im sure the net is running at a higher load now, epsecially considering that broadband was this years favourite present

                              Nick
