  • Huge hosting problem. 30-40gb/month, high load.

    Hello everyone.

I have a lil problem here, I'm searching for a new hoster. Well, I have readed most of the post on this board about hosting bu haven't found anything for me.

My forum use over 0.9-1.2Gb per day (no big attachments)
I have all the time (and I mean all the time) over 40-50 active users.
I have over 500 active users every day.

Now, as u see, traffic excess 30-35Gb per month. My MySQL DB is about 50Mb, vbb with all images about 10Mb.

Here's come the problem : I have about 80-120 new members every day.

As u may understood, I do not need 500Mb place or something.

All I need is hoster with over 30-35Gb/month, about 50Mb place, MySQL, php and preferabbly shell access.

I have thinked about dedicated hosting, but it wont work for me, I'm not *nix guru... yet...

My forum get about 233000 hits per day(avg) / 330000 hits per day(max).

I'm willing to put some banners on my forums if anyone want to be our sponsor.

Well, let me know please if u have any ideas about this subject, cause I'm tired of changing hoster... (I changed it 5 times in this year!!!).

    Thanx all!

        CHEAP BANDWIDTH

I would recommend www.rackshack.net for a server at $100 per month and about $250 set up (rubbish server) but you get 300GB bandwidth and they have a decent network (with stats to show its use).
I have been hosted on rackshack for about 1 month... They was down all the time...

If you have some budget a small managed dedicated server would be the best solution...

                Hi there,

Since you have think about dedicated hosting but pulling back because of you are not a NIX guru and not because of cost, here are some recommendation to you.

                1) http://www.www-hosting.net/semided.html

Uses he.net facilities. Super fast from Asia region.

                2) http://www.remarkablehosting.com/private.php

Uses Eli.net. Matthew is a great guy. The only disadvantage is that the control panel is ENSIM. I'm so used to Cpanel that i'm spoiled by it.

                3) http://www.hosting4less.com/highvolumedetails.html

Great host from what i heard. No personal experience. But they allowed big UBB boards on their server which is so resource intensive thus i think Vbulletin shouldn't be a problem.

                4) http://www.hostinggroup.com/demanding-hosting.html

Server at transxactglobal/DV2. Make sure you asked for HIGH RESOURCE account and NOT reseller account. For more info, read the link below.

                Good luck!

It is working for me as well. Try accessing them from www.mega-proxy.com.

If your IP is blocked, i wouldn't sign up. Any, it is the most expensive among all the 4 choices. So you might consider the other 3.

As suggested by Eva2000, try reducing your bandwidth first. Bandwidth is expensive and since your board is that busy, it would be hard to find a virtual hosting solution. Try to find a semi-dedicated. For your info, remarkablehosting solution would be a good choice for you to learn NIX since you get root access and etc.

Why I don't want to be root? Cause I don't want to see my board ruined one day cause I was a newbie root and forgot to patch this exploit, fix that error, compile new kernel, be DDoSed or simply get mailbombed.
                            But thanx in advance anyway

Until now I think 4) http://www.hostinggroup.com/demanding-hosting.html is the most vBB hosting friendly. Not much space (Nobody need it anyway, I have 2 FTPs running for my users running by users ) and a big amount of payed traffic and not so expensive for extra bandwith.

                            Maybe I'll stick to it

by the way, I have checked many boards in last days... mostly these that are owned by poeples writing here at vbb.com

some people have same amount of users, some less, some much much much more etc.

Could any of u give avg statistic over your board? like [ members / online average / traffic per month ]

Will help a bit Thanx again
