  • vBulletin and join_buffer_size

Hey, I am running a VPN and mysqltuner recommends "We will suggest raising the 'join_buffer_size' until JOINs not using indexes are found."
So far I am using the standard MariaDB value.

I experimented a bit and set the value to different sizes as 256k, 512k and also 1-4 Mb.

I exprienced no big difference in the generel speed as far as I can say that. But what I realized is, that I am running into a loading problem in one of my blogs. This blog contains about 600.000 entries. And when I increase the join_buffer_size, suddenly, this blog won't open again and the loading time increases to infinity (and beyond ).

So i know this is related to the join_buffer_size, but can someone help me to understand what exactly is happening there and why my whole page runs good but this blog with many entries won't open anymore?

Greetings and stay safe and sound!
