Just few words based on my personal experience with Nimbus as my Fully Managed VB Hosting copany.

Couple of months ago I come to know of Nimbus Hosting when I was searching for a vB fully managed hosting companies, and I come across this. After further search and a detail discussion with Tim and couple of hosting companies I decided to go with Nimbus. After two months of my experience I must say Nimbus Hosting does provide not only fully managed hosting of my VB forums, but also dealt with forum as well as site security, did a detail review of several addons I had, and suggested to update/replace addons causing performance and/or security issues.

For me based on my experience, an A++ service with a personal touch and very friendly support service at a very reasonable price.

yes indeed they are never once have they failed me with any problems I have caused

ye bud. thats exactly the case. They are very customer friendly. Not like my previous host companys who were either not interested or incapable of understanding problems that were raised from a novice user by means of novice terms. Trust me I have used numerous server providers, some cheap, some dear. I have found my home with Nimbus and wont even try to beat what I have now. Im happy and most importantly so are by members.

    One question, is Nimbus specialist?
And another question what is their tolerance for a bunch of stupid questions from a complete beginner

When you say just ask and they will sort it out.

Does this mean they have good tolerance level for low tech knowledge customers

I agree with all the recommendations of Nimbus. They provide an excellent hosting service and our forum has been running much faster ever since we moved to them. Nimbus provide excellent support and can't seem to do enough to help their clients.

First off, Nimbus are a great hosting company, I've hosted vBulletin 4 with them in the past (moved s/w now, but still with Nimbus) and they got it running better than I'd ever had it with any other host

Instead of a homepage, would a portal / cms linked with vB be a better option, that way you can bring in content from the forums or populate the whole thing from a new section of the forum. I'm sure one of the vB experts can help you with that

If you did want to go down the homepage route, I would suggest putting on the same host, saves messing around - The Index.php's would be separate, I would guess your homepage index (page) would be in the root folder (httpdocs) and then you'd have your forum in /forum/ from what I've read into your post.

    Hope that helps?

    Dave.
    Thanks Dave

Yeah I could go either way, but like the clean look of a home page where I can throw up daily articles with photos.
I will also buy a Skin for my VBulletin forum.

  • I will more than likely go with Nimbus for my Hosting, But I have a Question

My Dad always told me, there's no such thing as a Stupid Question. But I think I found one

First i will say, I have a little bit of a backround on Building Web sites, and own Two e-commerce sites.
I have also worked as a Super moderator on a VBulletin Forum for over 5 years, so I know the back end Admin panel and can work through all that.

This will be my First Forum, and here comes the "Stupid" Question.

I will build a Home page, which will then have a tab to lead people to the Forum. Where it will have Nimbus as the Host. Because that's where my VBulletin Forum will be.
Does my Home page need to be Hosted by Nimbus as well ?

Also, when I do get my VBulletin, will the Home page URL extend to ....com/forum/index.php ? Once I tie them together ?
