  • what is VB max concurrent online users limits with only one server??

    Hi All

We are running a large forum with 2000-4000 user online all the time.
    356,034 threads and 1,578,782 posts

our server spec: 8 CPUs, 16G RAM

is our server hardware limited the max concurrent online users? as we have difficulty to handle over 2000 online users.

when online user hit 2000, mysql showing 400-700% CPU load, and entire server stop responding any web request.

anyone seeing same size vbulletin forum? what is the server spec?
is that a mysql optimize issue? or hardware limitation?

finally, we are planning to run a vbulletin forums which can handle 100ks user online all the time. is that possible with VB? what kind of the server hardware structure we need?

    many thanks

    Eric

When you get to online users like that you may want to look into clustering servers and having separate MySQL server.

my old comment regarding vB handling capacity and not to use vB users online as sole measure of load and capacity http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showt...=1#post1485769

for proper gauge of real current loads and what type of server you need, you may want to head over to Server Configuration forum https://www.vbulletin.com/forum/foru...-Configuration. Start a new thread in that forum with info asked at https://www.vbulletin.com/forum/show...sts-13-07-2011. If you have CentOS/RHEL or Debian OS based server you can also use mysqlmymonlite.sh to gather all info required.

I've worked with vB forums up to 40 million posts, 10-15k vB users online and 300-600K registered users, of course hardware and software (apache, php, mysql, litespeed, nginx) requirements vary.
