I use apache, its stable and works and I do not currently have any super high throughput sites. Though, If i had the time or the need I'd likely spend time with nginx + php-fpm.

I'm looking at possibly leasing my 1st unmanaged, with no control panel... VPS. I'm not 100% worried about being new on self configuring... I'm more worried about picking something for my needs.

      ---- Fast (super fast)
---- Uses the least resources (HD space, Swap Memory, Ram, CPU)
---- Can take on a lot users / connections (many)
      ---- Stable
---- Compatible with other products (newest versions)

The more I read.... Apache would be good for a beginner like myself, but Nginx maybe more of what I need.

I like LiteSpeed. It's very fast, stable, and does a good job on load balances.

But I kind of forgot to add it to the poll and I was thinking about FREE options.

For less than 5 hosted domains free options i'd choose straight nginx + php-fpm + mariadb 5.2.4 mysql

For >5 hosted domains, i'd choose some form of whm/cpanel, with apache with nginx reverse proxy for static files or litespeed web server replacing apache + mariadb 5.2.4 mysql

For no control panels and >5 hosted domains, litespeed web server + mariadb 5.2.4 mysql

All options can throw in Varnish cache too see http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/entry...itespeed-Cache

reasoning posted at http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showt...-VS.-LiteSpeed and http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showt...e-to-latest-or
