  • Looking For A Good Domain Name Service

I'm trying to transfer my existing domain names from 1and1, and I'd like to know if anyone can recommend a good Domain Name provider. Right now I'm paying $10/year but I expect that will rise.

The main reason I want to transfer is because of 1and1's terms of use. I have no intention of doing anything illegal, but I'm considering an area of my site to have adult content which 1and1 does not support. I've looked into GoDaddy but have heard from a few that I should stay away from them. I've already transferred my hosting to A Small Orange and am very happy with them so far. Does anyone have any suggestions for a Domain Name provider? Thanks.

does your host do domain renewals? if so look into that.

also www.webhostingtalk.com might be a better resource.

in fact http://www.webhostingtalk.com/forumdisplay.php?f=35 is the direct link to the domain name section there

name.com is who I use, free whois protection, reasonably simple interface. At least I can navigate it.

Take a look at namecheap.com - last I used them, their services were excellent. Never had a chance to deal with their support

First of all, I don't think 1and1 have a problem with adult domain name. As far as I know, they don't allow adult hosting, but domain names are okay. Ask their support before you move.

Godaddy and Namecheap are two popular, cheap options for domain names. Just contact them and ask their support if they are okay with adult domin names, instead of making assumptions.

Hostgator allow legal adult sites, but there are specialist adult hosts as well.
