Even if a host kick you for using too much CPU, you will be able to download a back up of your files and database. You will have the option to move to a VPS, Dedicated server or another host. In case of Hostgator, they should move your site to a VPS, if you choose to use one.

As far as I know HG sends out a warning/notification and upgrades you upon request. That's what I've read on reviews and feedback, question would be best answered by them however.

10/10 reputable hosts will never just delete a site. I know Host Gator won't for sure.

You'll most likely get an email and an account/script disabled message. They'll ask you to fix it, and then reactivate the site. If it continues to be a problem they'll disable it again, and then inform you, that you need to upgrade to a VPS, or a dedicated solution.

If the host deletes your data with no warning, you should have considered paying more than $1.95 a month for hosting.

First rule of running any website is, always make sure you have regular backups. Most hosts will likely contact you in case you are causing load issues, unless they are run by kids who have no business sense.
For sure. Me, i run backups every night. Takes some time, but is sure worth it... Couldnt live without em.

If you are not confident about your current host, I would be sure you have everything backed up on a regular basis and start looking elsewhere now.
Any reputable hosting company will work with you.

Most hosts will contact you about the CPU issues. Some will try to tell you that your vBulletin forum is "poorly coded" (lol) or some bullcrap like that.
They will offer you to upgrade your account to dedicated hosting (if they have that) . Usually they don't just delete your site without warning.
