  • Considering VPS: ServInt or Liquidweb or ?

I have a shared Hosting account with downtownhost but was forced to disable a mod (Ajax powered chat box), so I am looking at my options. I was going to try another shared hosting account, possibly at liquidweb, but am concerned about whether this mod will be an issue at any shared host. I am thinking that it may be best to go with a low level VPS option.

I was looking at Liquidweb and ServInt. Has anyone had any experience with any of these? Or maybe another company with a VPS option I have not considered?

I like UrlJet. They specialise in hosting vbulletin websites and they have some really good VPS plans here. Currently they are running a thanksgiving offer so check them out asap for some good deals. Also you'll find some really good reviews if you search vbulletin forums for UrlJet hosting. Try contacting the company about the mod to see if they support it. Hope this helps.

Thank you for the response. I wonder if you can still retain control of the maintenance of your board, or does URLJet do it all for you? I will look into them, thanks.

        You are welcome.

You can choose to give them access or not to give them. In my case, I have given them an admin access but I have kept restrictions on that account. It doesn't matter anyway because they know what they are doing and they've been dealing with a number of vbulletin sites for a long time.

Sorry I was at office and I couldn't complete my previous post.

Anyway... whether you give or not give the controls to UrlJet, you still maintain all controls as admin. Also the customer service in my opinion is really good. I've been with a lot of hosts. UrlJet is best if you are looking to host a vbulletin board.

No prob. I emailed URLJet, and I am going to give them a try. I told them about the mod, and they said it was no problem and many of their customers use that mod. The fact that they are verse in vB is definitely a plus. Thanks for the info and recommendation!

ServInt would be the choice from me. Do a search for their reviews on a quality site such as http://www.webhostingtalk.com or the like, and you will rarely find a bad word against that company... they really do stand out above the rest for quality equipment and service.

Completely agree, their servers are the fastest of the lot (have used Knownhost and Futurehosting VPS earlier).

I've been a liquidweb user for 3 years, they are without a doubt first class.

All three companies are spectacular really. LiquidWeb has great dedicated services that's where they're really good, their VPS offers are good also but I'd recommened URLJet for VPS everyone seems to love URLJet who has been with them

I've heard all good things about Servint, not a single bad review if I recall correctly. Both are decent companies, but personally I may try Servint first.
Every time I think of a potential way to delight people, I make a website. Otherwise I'm looking for the web hosting deals.

Hey.. both choices are good. I have been a supporter of Liquidweb for long time and heard nice reviews about ServerInt as well.

URLJet is somethign new for me and it seems their offer is a lot differnt being a specialist vb host. I am sure a lot of non technical webmasters are going to love them.
