I am currently looking for web hosting to host the forum that I am going to create.

I am leasing VB (downloaded it this past weekend). I have it currently installed in one of my GODADDY website's folder. I wanted to install it to see how the control panel works and how I can configure it.

I am starting to create the forums, but I am thinking, how will I be able to port or copy these forums over to the new web hosting?

I don't think I am going to go with GODADDY. After reading the posts in this forum (vBulletin Hosting Option), I think I will go with these options instead. I just need to read more and do research.

But in the meantime, I want to learn as much as I can about VB.

What issues will I have moving it from the GODADDY site to a new hosting site?

    Not any.

    I highly suggest Hostgator.com

They are cheap, and, they have very good hosting, and atm you can get 20% Off.

I have had no problems with them so far, and my forums are running great.

This is taken right from their site:

I would recommend taking a look at http://TheBlueKingdom.com. They have a 99.9% uptime and 24/7/365 support for about $4 a month. They have really great customization options as well . Hopefully this helps some! Goodluck to you!

          I highly recommend justsixbucks.com

Of course I administer their servers, so I know that the service is supreme
Anybody who says "it can't be done" will usually be interrupted by somebody who is already doing it.

MySQL database will work on Windows as well. But with godaddy windows hosting, many PHP functions are turned off which I guess will affect the forum.

                  Hi,

Because you are new to vBulletin, I would suggest you go for a hosting company that has dedicated vBulletin support. Many people 'jump-the-gun' these days and go for the cheapest hosting they can find, where it's normally stated with 'unlimited' this and that (False Advertising) - that's like saying they have an unlimited hard drive space!!! Other hosts that sell cheap hosting usually offer useless support, badly configured servers, or do not do account level backups.

I have dealt with GoDaddy in the past, not personally but for clients - I would only recommend them for domain registering, and not hosting.
Hostgator, not too bad - hardware always seems to be a let down with this host.

Considering all these factors, you would be better off paying that little extra, and have your vBulletin monitored 24/7, with free migration, R1 Hourly backups, fast response support and a company that specializes in vBulletin, whether you need it upgraded or modifications added. Standard hosts will not give you this level of features, but one company that will is www.urljet.com - they do not use standard Apache on Linux either, your vBulletin is tweaked to run under LiteSpeed on Apache. I would not recommend running a PHP environment under Windows, it not the best of practices.

I wish you well, whom ever you choose, but keep in mind that support is your main priority.
