  • Ok godaddy.com is horrible for hosting

I have one small site running vbulletin and it crawls. 20-30 seconds to load up a page. Time out issues and pages never loading. It was good for over a year and now it's horrible.

What are good alternatives out there?

If it's against any rules, can you please pm me them instead?

Hostgator is a big time overseller. Check http://www.webhostingtalk.com for reviews.

Probably because they massively oversell their services, so unless you have a small site you might end up getting suspended due to heavy usage.

GoDaddy is a registrar, and a bad one. Additional service (which they outsource) is hosting, something they should leave up to the hosting companies. I have had horrible experiences with GoDaddy and will never use them or any of their resellers, or any of their products/services ever again.

Godaddy is the largest registrar on the internet today and I personally have done business with them since the early 2000's, never once had a problem with them.

Before GoDaddy.com I used Network Solutions back in the late 90's when Domain registration was at $70+ at least through them. The good part of back in the old days of registration was that you were billed for the domains and had 90 days to pay.

I have also used Register.com, Dynadot & I still prefer Godaddy.

Registering domain names and running hosting servers are 2 totally different things.

GoDaddy can do both just fine if you don't go with their shared solutions.

I have purchased several dedicated servers form them without an issue & this last time I was given 20% off the entire year.

You may have had a bad experience, but I am another one who has had an account with GoDaddy for more than a few years and had not one bit of trouble. I have used telephone support twice to ask them how to do something and found their support stellar in that regard. I have more than 80 domains registered through them.

Lots of businesses do "2 totally different things" and are quite successful at it. I ran a non-Internet related business for most of 35 years and did many different things and everything worked very well for me and my customers.

You may have had a different idea you wanted to convey. I will say that my recommendation is never to get your hosting and your domain registrations from the same company. Too much can go wrong. I also believe GoDaddy's hosting packages may be over-sold and their higher end packages are not as well serviced and the quality of the hardware may not be as high as with other companies (there are many good ones, but far more that are as bad or worse than GoDaddy).

So, I am very satisfied with GoDaddy as a registrar and have no desire to even shop elsewhere. However, as long as they are my registrar, I wouldn't consider having them host any of my websites, even if their policies, service and quality improved dramatically.

I totally agree with you referring to godaddy hosting. But my answer is about hostgator. GoDaddy is a good registrar, I think. I haven't any problem with my 5 domains registered by them

I had over 200 domains over various accounts, and it went fine for a while. Until I needed to change details, or have domains moved, etc. It has cost me business, money, time, and domain names. I am glad I got the support from namecheap and move away from godaddy. It took me over 5 months to get the last 2 domain names moved, godaddy has tried everything they could think of to prevent this from happening.

Even without having a single account with them any more and various legal agent requests to get them to stop sending email, I still get 3 to 4 emails from them weekly.

I am sure there are people with good experiences, with the few accounts I had, the amount of domains I had with them, and all .. I've had over 5 different big registrars and godaddy is by far the worst experience I had.

That's it, I am just sharing my experience and do not recommend them.
