  • Shared Hosting

    Hi,

I run a vbulletin board with 36704 members and 36046 threads.

I make a search and I find that hostgator is a good company, so I your opinion hostgator offers are compatible with my board or not.

    thank you

and sorry for my bad english

My site was suspended on Hostgator shared services today with 4,300 members, 12.5 million hits per month and around 500 online at once.

They didn't even give me a warning.

Infact the owner of hostgator himself suspended my site!!!

If I were you, i'd do some research and ask a few questions before using them.

Just so you know, 500 online at once is far more than any shared host would allow. You will have to start looking at dedicated servers with that level of activity.

I wondering if a vps server can hold that ?

        vps server
        Storage Space 40 GB
        Bandwith Gb 1000 GB
        Ram 512 Mb
        Guaranteed CPU 800Mz
        Burstable RAM 1024Mb
        Processor #1 Vendor: GenuineIntel
        Processor #1 Name: Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5335 @ 2.00GHz

Because im planing for max 8000 to 1000 members in there with 140 to 180 online per time .

500 members? Or a combination of members and guests.

You will need to go with a dedicated, not even VPS would be that suitable for you currently.

there are some good shared hosts around, but if they are not giving you warning before shutting you down, then i'd stay clear.
