    That's why using the Imported CSS 'hack' is excellent. It hides the styling from all Netscape 4.x browsers (and a few other of such ancient browsers), so that those users get a totally unstyled page.

    inline styles are teh bad

    you should not care for Netscape 4.x unless your boss wants you to do so
    Give it up, you can't take care of all browsers.

    Additionally, if you end up working with the Imported Stylesheet CSS hack to prevent older browsers from messing up your valid CSS in their display (caused by them being horribly poor in CSS support, this mostly affects Netscape 4.x), you may want to have your body tag look like this:

    Code:
    <body style="margin: 0; padding: 0;">

    I have had the same problem before and the answer every one has suggested above works great.

    i'd set margin:0 and padding:0 for both the html and body elements, to make sure you are compatible with older and newer browsers.

    XHTML is kicking my arse!

    I'm trying to validate my pages to make them 100% compliant with the XHTML standard, and I am having one hiccup:

    Apparently, marginwidth, topmargin, etc. are not recognized by the validator! Is there something I am missing, that actually does work while maintaining zero borders?

    Thanks in advance!
