  • excellent editor and vcs system? Multiedit?

I just downloaded the eval version of multiedit. Had been using ultraedit until now. UE is really great but sometimes it can be slow and other times the undo feature spontaneously messes up the code.

In multiedit I noticed they have a feature called VCS. I guess that stands for version control system. Sounds like exactly what I (and other hackers here) need. Never used one. Can someone explain it? How hard is it? What's the main idea, how does it work? Is multiedit's version good?

I'm sick and tired of saving temporary files and not remembering which version is which. Testing it on this test server that test server. Some organization would be wonderful.

I guess the vb dev team uses a VCS...

A "version control system" would be CVS, "concurrent versions system".

I don't know if you mean that and mistyped it, but you can find infos about it on .

They have a feature called vcs, I thought it was cvs but I guess it's something else. Has anyone used multiedit?

The vcs in mult-edit is a version control interface. It can be connected with common (and free) configuration management systems such as cvs.

I used multi-edit for years at my old job, and it is a really good editor with some very powerful features.
