    Bluefish is a good editor for programmers on Linux.
    It is fast, rock-solid, which you can't say for the bloatwarez called screem and quanta.
    People that use regex to deal with things in their editor can have a party with Bluefish.

    Oh yes, send the maker that card, he isn't asking for much for his great editor.

        Im using the Private Edtion (ore how ever the call it) of Zend Studio.

        I am only missing some auto Update Funktion for this CVS stamp thing:
        PHP Code:
         /* $Id: fileName.php,v 1.1 2003/1/5 16:27:00 myID Exp $ */
        That would be really cool .....

        And Some Rows, Words and Chars counter of the hole Project. :-)

              Which of these editors allows you to insert snippets of PHP code directly into your php page? I use HTML-Kit with the PHP/MySQL plugin at the moment, but I dont like the way the snippets are coded and I dont believe they can be changed.

              Is there a good editor that allows you to create your own snippets for things like connecting to a db, inserting simple if..else statements, functions, etc?

                Most of them are going to have templating or macros I would of thought, though if you are using a lot of the same code over and over again, then maybe look at the design and not the tools ?

                Though I know what you mean, and yes most of them will do it in one way or another.

                  Source Edit looks quite good: http://download.com.com/3000-2352-10213766.html

                  Jerry, I'm still only learning PHP so it's most likely my coding. I'll get there in the end

                        And the plugins are amazing.

                        Being a Java person too I'm thinking of writing some of my own to help with group development, I can see JEdit going a long way.

                                A WYSIWYG-Editor for PHP? Do you know what you are asking there? Best you can get is an IDE like Zend Studio, but WYSIWYG is not possible.
