For PHP, Java, HTML, and just generic text editting, I use EditPlus... simple, convenient, syntax highlighting...

for coding in C, I use emacs since most of the time, I'll be coding C on a remove machine... by the way, I hate coding in C - it's such a low-level language compared to all the languages I learned prior to learning C: basic, vb, c++, php, java... and C is so friggin' picky - it just pisses me off! core dump this and seg fault that! arg!

err... sorry about my rant at the end :P

but EditPlus and emacs go hand to hand for me

I'd agree with you on any version before MX, however MX is great.

Yeah, what layout are you using though, Dreamweaver 4 Workspace or MX?

Errrr, sorry. I used it as my main editor not long ago (1 year), but the lack of updates really discouraged me to use it. I once even asked them if there would ever be a newer version, and a few weeks later 4.6 came out. The changes are not significant, and I prefer Ultraedit, though.

MX, with the Homesite/Coder Option checked off.

(Dreamweaver MX is the combination of DW, UltraDev, and Homesite into one package)

Using UltraEdit myself, though I've heard that UltraEdit 10 is due out soon.
