  • Image Manipulation Perl Modules [GD]

This is for those of you, who have bouthj PhotoPost, or downloaded Coppermine or any other image gallery software and wonder what GD is and where to download it. Here is what I found @ http://www.jmbsoft.com/software/agp/#

The homepage for the GD library is http://www.boutell.com/gd/, and you can always find the latest version there. Before the Perl module is installed, the GD library itself must be installed. That page also covers the requirements of the GD library. You will need the PNG and JPEG image libraries, the zlib compression library, and we also recommend that you install the FreeType library. All of this is covered on the GD page and in it's documentation. Your server administrator should be able to quickly locate and install each of the needed libraries, and then compile and install GD.

    /-------------------------------------/

The homepage for ImageMagick is http://www.imagemagick.org/, and you can always find the latest version there. This site also includes the necessary documentation to install the software. For the purposes of our software, we recommend that ImageMagick be compiled with at least JPEG and FreeType support.

The ImageMagick distribution includes the PerlMagick Perl modules, so no additional downloads are necessary. To get the PerlMagick Perl module installed and working properly, it is important that ImageMagick be compiled as a shared library. The default is to not compile as a shared library, so a special value must be passed to the configure script included with the distribution:

    ./configure --enable-shared
widgetinstance 262 (Related Topics) skipped due to lack of content & hide_module_if_empty option.
