    PHP4.2.x register_globals

Just a quick PHP 4.2.x question.

I guess with PHP i'm a bit of a newb because i have just concentrated on perl for about 3 years now, but it was around the end of december i started working on a new website and knew the PHP would be the best option for it.

I bought about £120s worth of books and all was going not bad but then... php4.2.x with register_globals = off!! most of the time i don't buy a dedicated server so i can't change the PHP config file.

None of the books i bought covered this so they are probably outta date already, so could someone please advise me on how i should change my scripts to deal with register_globals being off?

    Cheers!
