  • PNG transparency problem

    hi all,
firstly if youve got FF or Opera and IE please give me a minute of your time to try to sort a problem with my forum out..

    http://twobrutal.co.uk

in FF and Opera8 the site logo is displayed properly with transparency.

in IE6 SP2 the site logo is not being displayed correctly..its not displaying transparency..?

anybody know why explorer is not working as i need it to be..is there a specific PNG save setting that will work across browsers..?

I would suggest getting all the errors out to begin with.

Once that's done, you'll find it a lot easier.
    Lats...

Also, IE isn't 100% proficient at displaying PNGs to begin and theres nothing you can do about that but maybe try IE7 beta..I would just advise getting rid of IE all together and telling all your website guests to do the same

Last I heard, there was a known bug in IE6 regarding PNG transparency, PNG not being fully supported yet. We even tested it on our forum a couple of years ago, and I think we found out that it was the 24-bit PNG transparencies that caused problems, while 8-bit PNGs were fine.

            Hi,

Transparency and alpha are two different animals and the problem that you are experiencing with IE is that od the alpha range not being supported. It can, however, be overcome with a little sleight-of-hand
There are some old samples of alpha being manipulated via a filter in IE here
            Later
